Mårten Medbo
Mårten Medbo is a Swedish artist working in both ceramics and glass. Kosta Boda describes his nature-inspired, organic forms and glass practice alongside clay. An object bearing his name should therefore not automatically be recorded as pottery or as the product of a single glass manufacturer.
One specific example is the Spine art-glass series for Kosta Boda. The manufacturer describes a dark red layer beneath a white outer layer, cut to expose the red beneath. This describes the named series rather than a general technique applying to all Medbo work.
When assessing a piece, document material, model name, executing workshop and manufacturer separately. Compare rim, base and surface with a known model before interpreting irregularities as damage or decoration. An organic shape alone is insufficient for attribution. Preserve labels and provenance information.
