Marver (glassworking surface)
A marver is a smooth, flat working surface against which softened glass is rolled while attached to a blowpipe or pontil. It smooths the glass or consolidates applied decoration. The term also denotes the rolling operation.
Equipment rather than a glass type
Marver identifies a working surface and operation, not a glassworks or particular glass composition. It should not be confused with marbling as a general description of decoration.
Documentation
Record dimensions, surface, support and known workshop context. A smooth loose plate alone does not prove glassmaking use. Working photographs or documented workshop provenance can support identification. The tool name cannot attribute an object to a Norwegian glassworks.
