Movado

Movado is a watch brand with Swiss origins in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1881, associated with Achilles Ditesheim's workshop. Its history encompasses different watch types and designs. Movado should therefore not be used as a synonym for a single minimalist dial.

Who designed the Museum dial?

Nathan George Horwitt designed the Museum dial in 1947. Its distinctive single marker at twelve represents the sun at noon. Horwitt is the designer; Movado is the brand. The design's origin date is not the production date of every later watch using that appearance.

Other aspects of the history

The manufacturer's history also describes the Polyplan's movement built on several planes and the Ermeto's sliding case, which helps wind the movement in the version described. These characteristics must not be transferred to every watch bearing the brand.

Record model, calibre, case and dial together. A Museum-like dial alone confirms neither authenticity, age nor originality. Report subsequent restoration, replacement parts and documented servicing separately.
