ochs und junior
ochs und junior is a Swiss watch brand founded in 2006 by Ludwig Oechslin, Beat Weinmann and Kurt König. Its own presentation describes watches designed by Oechslin and an approach aimed at solving mechanical functions with few components.
Several displays use dots and perforated rings instead of conventional numbered windows. Execution varies between models. The manufacturer also describes visible machining traces on cases, dials and hands as an intentional feature of its watches. Such traces should be assessed against documentation for the particular version, so an intended finish is not automatically mistaken for damage.
When buying a used watch, establish the model, functions, materials and any customisation. Distinguish the base movement from an additional display or calendar module. A component count quoted for one module is not the total number of parts in the watch and need not apply to other models. Photographs, original order information and service history can help the assessment. Patina alone cannot confirm an original finish or age. See also wristwatches.
