Orfina

Orfina is a Swiss watch manufacturer associated with Grenchen. Collectors particularly encounter the name through its collaboration with Porsche Design on the Chronograph I, presented in 1972. Porsche Design's own history distinguishes Ferdinand Alexander Porsche's design from Orfina's technical implementation and manufacturing.

The inscription Porsche Design by Orfina expresses that partnership. It does not make the two firms identical or turn every Orfina into a Porsche Design model. Porsche Design also worked with other watch manufacturers, so the design name alone cannot identify who made a particular watch.

For vintage chronographs, investigate the specific reference and movement. Compare dial, hands, pushers and case with documentation for the appropriate version. Damage or later treatment of dark surfaces can affect appearance. A model presentation in 1972 does not automatically date each surviving example. Keep documented production details distinct from assumptions based on a recognisable design.
