Øvrebø Smykkeverkstad (Anne Lise Øvrebø)
Øvrebø Smykkeverkstad was established in 2003 by goldsmith and filigree craftsperson Anne Lise Øvrebø. The workshop's own presentation relates its designs to the landscape and cultural heritage of Jølster. Her name identifies the maker, while the workshop name identifies the business.
Collections and production
BevArt provides a specific example of its work. Øvrebø describes remelting offcuts and components from her own production and sand casting new jewellery. This concerns that production, rather than establishing that every workshop piece is sand cast. The physical shop at Ålhus closed in 2021, while the workshop relocated. The shop's closure should therefore not be recorded as the end of the whole business.
Identifying pre-owned jewellery
Record the collection and model when supported by evidence, and photograph the front, reverse, clasp and every mark. Preserve receipts and details of special commissions. A nature-inspired motif alone does not identify Øvrebø as the maker. Examine wear and later repairs separately from traces of manufacture. No particular maker's mark is assigned to the workshop here without supporting documentation.
