Pequignet
Pequignet is a French watch brand founded by Émile Péquignet in Morteau in 1973. Moorea was introduced in 1984. Its history therefore covers earlier design collections as well as later development of proprietary mechanical movements.
Calibre Royal and movement types
In 2011 Pequignet introduced a new watch collection fitted with its own Calibre Royal. This date concerns the collection and is not the company's founding year. The manufacturer's range distinguishes proprietary French movements, automatic winding, manual winding and quartz. A watch signed Pequignet therefore does not by itself establish the presence of Calibre Royal.
Identification and condition
Record model name, case reference and actual movement designation separately. Compare dial, case, bracelet and functions with documentation for the same reference and period. Power reserve, complications or water resistance from another model cannot be transferred. Note whether the date and other functions operate and whether parts have been replaced. Where necessary, ask a watchmaker to identify the movement.
