Piaget
Piaget is a Swiss watch and jewellery house. According to the brand history, Georges Édouard Piaget established his first workshop on the family farm in La Côte-aux-Fées in 1874, producing precision movements and components.
From movements to complete watches
Piaget states that the business evolved from movement production to pocket watches and wristwatches. The name was registered as a trademark in 1943. Ultra thin mechanical calibres and the combination of watchmaking, goldsmithing and gem setting later became important parts of the brand identity.
Identification
A Piaget name on the dial is not sufficient by itself. Check case marks, reference, serial number, movement, material marks and consistency between parts. Model names and specifications must be tied to the exact reference because older and newer Piaget watches can differ greatly. Record refinished dials, replacement crowns, bracelets and service work.
