Rådhus med vifte cutlery pattern
Rådhus med vifte cutlery pattern
Rådhus med vifte, also called Rådhus Vifte, is a Norwegian cutlery pattern with slender handles ending in a fan-shaped detail. Th. Marthinsen's catalogue connects it with Guttorm Gagnes, a proposal for Oslo City Hall and its launch in 1938.
Identification
The pattern occurs on different utensils and in different versions. Older pieces may bear David-Andersen marks, while Th. Marthinsen offers the range today. Maker, fineness and an individual piece's age must be examined separately. Compare handle length and blade shape when matching pieces.
Read fineness marks such as 830S together with the maker's mark. A pattern's history does not date an individual example.
