Remontoir d'égalité
A remontoir d'égalité evens out power delivery using a smaller energy store between the main drive and the following part of the movement. In spring-based versions, a small intermediate spring is retensioned at short intervals and supplies energy between replenishments.
A. Lange & Söhne describes arrangements with differing intervals, including applications in Zeitwerk and Richard Lange Jumping Seconds. The examples also combine the mechanism with different display tasks. One replenishment interval cannot be assigned to every remontoir, and the term does not itself mean an exceptionally long power reserve.
In older descriptions, distinguish remontoir d'égalité from uses of remontoir referring to winding arrangements. The word remontoir alone does not establish a constant-force mechanism. Identify a particular object through its calibre, technical drawing or manufacturer's description. More even power delivery also does not guarantee an older watch's actual rate accuracy.
