Roamer
Roamer is a Swiss watch brand with roots in Fritz Meyer's Solothurn workshop, established in 1888. Its history includes Meyer's partnership with Johann Stüdeli and movements known by the MST designation.
Anfibio and different movements
Roamer's own timeline connects the Anfibio line with a patented watertight case and the year 1955. It also records the introduction of its first MST quartz movement in 1972. An older Roamer therefore needs to be identified as a particular mechanical or quartz watch; today's range is not a specification for earlier production.
Checking a used example
Record the reference, case material and movement details. On an Anfibio, document the case, crown and evidence of previous intervention, and have a watchmaker open an unfamiliar case construction. Distinguish documented original parts from later replacements. Historical water resistance does not establish present sealing, and an MST mark alone cannot identify the complete watch.
