Sekonda
Sekonda is a watch brand established in 1966. The Margulies family's company history explains that Alexander Margulies sold Russian-made watches under the Sekonda name. The brand is therefore neither the name of a single watch factory nor a guarantee of one manufacturing country throughout its history. Sekonda now presents its watches as British designed, which alone does not establish where a particular watch was manufactured.
Model numbers and older watches
Sekonda's customer support states that most recent watches have a four- or five-digit model number engraved on the case back, usually near the bottom. This guidance concerns recent models and is not a general dating key for historic Sekonda watches.
Useful distinctions for collectors
Record dial markings, case-back inscriptions, references and the movement separately. An older mechanical watch and a recent watch of the same brand may have very different technical backgrounds. Establish manufacturing origin and movement type using evidence for the actual watch or its documented model. Today's design identity or an isolated model-number search should not be the sole basis for age, originality or manufacturer attribution.
