Sellita
Sellita is a Swiss manufacturer of mechanical watch movements, established in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 1950. It supplies movements to other watch brands. The name can therefore identify the manufacturer of the mechanism inside a watch whose dial carries a different brand.
Identify the calibre
A calibre designation identifies a movement type. The exact designation and variant matter more than the manufacturer's name alone when checking functions and specifications. Sellita presents the SW200-2 Power+, for example, as a development of the SW200-1. Information about the newer version should not automatically be applied to the older one.
Buying and describing a watch
Record calibre markings, photographs and available service history. Check whether the documentation matches the movement actually fitted. Do not infer power reserve, certification, accuracy or servicing needs simply from the word Sellita. Distinguish the watch brand, movement manufacturer and later repair work. A shared movement supplier does not make different brands' watches identical in case, dial, finish or documented condition.
