Sigrid Rostad
Sigrid Rostad is a glass artist with a studio in Bergen, Norway. Her own presentation describes working with hot glass, drawing on nature, energy and movement. Vases, sculptures and lamps are central work types, alongside commissions such as tableware for restaurants.
She emphasises texture, colour and organic surfaces. Gravity, centrifugal force and heat help develop flowing forms in the glass. This describes a working method, rather than evidence that any organically shaped glass vase should be attributed to Rostad.
When assessing a possible work, compare shape, dimensions, colour, surface and provenance with documented examples. Irregularity may be intentional; sharp broken edges and subsequent wear require separate assessment. A gallery or shop that sold an object is not necessarily the artist who made it. Identification should rest on evidence relating to the individual piece.
