Slettvoll
Slettvoll is a Norwegian furniture manufacturer and interiors brand rooted in Stranda, Sunnmøre. Hans and Bergit Slettvoll established the business in their home in 1951. Early products included woven baskets, doll prams and small furniture, so its history extends beyond today's sofas and armchairs.
Manila furniture played an important role in the 1970s. The range and retail concept developed further over time. Slettvoll's own timeline dates its first branded store to 1999 and its furniture collaboration with interior architect Helene Forbes Hennie to 2004. Founding the business, opening a store and launching a design collaboration are separate milestones.
When assessing used furniture, compare labels, model details and older catalogue images with dimensions and construction. Inspect the frame, suspension, cushions and covering, noting any reupholstery. The company's factory in Stranda establishes a manufacturing connection, but does not by itself determine the model, age or designer of an unmarked piece.
