Soon Smykkeverksted (Tomas Sættem)

Soon Smykkeverksted is goldsmith Tomas Sættem's workshop in Son, Norway. He makes handmade jewellery to order, developing pieces for individual customers. Soon is the spelling used in the workshop's name; the town is now called Son.

Bespoke work and materials

The workshop's own presentation includes an iron ring with a diamond, a yellow gold pendant with rough opal and a silver ring with amethyst. These examples call for individual descriptions of each piece. A dark ring is not necessarily silver, and a pale metal does not by itself establish a particular alloy.

Buying and identification

The product gallery shows previous commissions as inspiration. It is not a stock list of standard models. When assessing a second-hand jewel, compare receipts, any commission details and marks on the object. Resemblance to a gallery piece alone does not establish that Tomas Sættem made it. Record metal, stones, dimensions and condition separately.
