Straum
Straum is a Norwegian watch brand established in 2017 by industrial designers Lasse Roxrud Farstad and Øystein Helle Husby. Its own founding account connects the brand with their design collaboration. Norwegian design origins should be distinguished from evidence for where an individual watch or component was manufactured.
Opphav and Jan Mayen
The manufacturer's collection archive distinguishes Case 01, Opphav, from Case 02, Jan Mayen. This helps identify pre-owned watches: check the variant and case platform before taking technical data from a product description. The archive also lists different colours, material versions and special editions. A similar dial appearance alone does not establish the exact version.
Documentation when buying
Record the complete model designation and reference, photographing the dial, case back, case and bracelet attachment. Compare these with the manufacturer's page for that particular edition. A newer model's power reserve, movement and dimensions should not be applied to an older Opphav. Preserve purchase records and service history. Distinguish an edition's original production limit from claims about surviving examples or availability on the secondary market: these are separate questions.
