Tinn-Per
Tinn-Per is a Norwegian pewter foundry established in Oslo in 1963 by Per Fostveit and Per Tryving. Its original production consisted of pewter buttons and clasps. Giftware and souvenirs were subsequently added.
The manufacturer records moves to Asker in 1972 and to Hønefoss following an ownership change in 2006. In 2017 Tinn-Per took over pewter production from Den Norske Knappefabrikk. These are separate events, not alternative founding dates. Its own website continues to present buttons, clasps and buckles as important product groups.
Distinguish pewter costume fittings from silver. A grey or bright fitting does not itself establish silver content, and a traditional pattern alone cannot identify its maker. Record shape, dimensions, reverse, fastening and any marks. Compare documented models and preserve purchase information. Fittings can be transferred between garments, so a garment's age does not automatically date its metalwork.
