Tone Ørvik
Tone Ørvik is a Canadian-Norwegian sculptor working with cast glass and pâte de verre. Pilchuck Glass School also identifies her as co-author, with Max Stewart, of Pâte de Verre: The Material of Time. This records an individual artistic and professional practice, not an industrial glassworks.
A documented work is Silvers, shown in the Contemporary Glass Society's 2017 online exhibition In Relationship. It is listed as cast glass, 53 cm tall, and portrays the couple Arlene and Norm Silvers. The title refers to the sitters rather than silver as a material.
When cataloguing, document artist, title, technique and material separately. A figurative glass work cannot be attributed to Ørvik on subject alone. Compare documented photographs, dimensions and provenance. Record surfaces, chips and repairs without assuming that a matt or textured surface necessarily results from wear.
