Tone Tørdal (goldsmith)
Tone Tørdal is an Oslo goldsmith working with new jewellery, repairs and redesign. She studied goldsmithing, silversmithing and jewellery design at Kent Institute of Art and Design. Her own biography also describes extensive experience with master goldsmith Torill Isachsen before establishing her own practice.
Commissions may use a customer's older jewellery and materials or entirely new materials. When examining such a piece, distinguish the original inherited object from its later design. Redesign can preserve a gemstone while replacing its original setting.
Keep commission records, photographs and receipts showing the work performed. A repair record does not automatically establish that the repairer designed or made the entire jewel. The name alone also provides no basis for assigning an unidentified responsibility mark to her.
