Maker

Tonje Tunold (Boble glasshytte)

Tonje Tunold is the glass artist behind Boble glasshytte in Karasjok. The studio's own presentation dates its opening to November 2009 and describes functional glass, decorative pieces and art objects. Tunold is responsible for design and glassblowing. Her name and the studio name therefore identify different roles within the same practice.

Colour, light and inspiration

Boble and Norske Glasskunstnere describe Finnmark's landscape, light and Sámi culture as sources of inspiration. The studio highlights colour and pattern as aspects of its work. This provides background, rather than an identification key capable of establishing the maker of an unfamiliar glass object on its own.

Documentation and assessment

When an attribution is supported, record both Tonje Tunold and Boble glasshytte. Photograph the form, base, any marks and distinctive decoration. Preserve labels and purchase records. Note rim chips, scratches and repairs, examining whether an apparent irregularity belongs to the original execution. Sámi inspiration does not itself prove a particular maker or a traditional object type. The opening year, 2009, dates the studio rather than automatically dating the object being examined.
