Tutima
Tutima is a German watch brand historically associated with Glashütte. Its background connects with UROFA, UFAG and their leader Ernst Kurtz during the interwar period. After the Second World War, business continued in the West, with Ganderkesee important to the later history.
One name, different constructions
Tutima's own presentation describes both proprietary movements and adapted base movements. One specific example is the Tutima 521 calibre, which the manufacturer states is based on the ETA Valjoux 7750. This applies to that calibre and must not be generalised to every Tutima watch.
Historical and later models
Distinguish the pilot-watch tradition, modern model families and the individual reference. Historic styling alone proves neither military issue nor age. Document the movement's actual markings, not just the brand on the dial.
When buying, examine reference, calibre, case and dial together. Record subsequent service replacements and the functions actually tested. On a chronograph, starting, stopping and resetting need assessment separately from whether the watch itself runs.
