Wintervold (goldsmith)
Wintervold is a jewellery shop with a goldsmith workshop in Tromsø. Its own presentation documents remodelling, new work, repairs and engraving. The shop also retails jewellery by Norwegian and international designers. The name is therefore relevant both as a workshop and a retailer.
For pre-owned jewellery, establish the business's role in the particular transaction. A shop receipt may record where a jewel was sold, while a workshop invoice may record a later repair. Neither automatically establishes that Wintervold originally designed and manufactured the complete piece.
Retain commission descriptions, receipts and any earlier photographs when inherited jewellery is remodelled. Record materials, stones and markings on the object itself. A familiar shop name alone cannot attribute an unknown responsibility mark to the workshop. Later engraving should also be distinguished from original manufacturer's markings.
