Post-auction sale
A post-auction sale is the sale of an auction lot that remained unsold during the scheduled bidding. It depends on the auction operator offering this option and the lot remaining available. Skanfil's consignment conditions refer to sales of unsold objects after an auction. Check the arrangement with the operator concerned.
Questions for buyers and sellers
Before agreeing to buy, ask about the price, any commission, payment and collection. Read the description and request a condition report where needed. An unsold lot is not automatically a discounted lot.
As a consignor, establish whether an unsold lot may enter a post-auction sale, be offered at another auction or be returned, and what costs may arise. These are separate options. A post-auction sale does not guarantee a sale or a particular settlement.
Next steps
If you are selling a collection, compare the auction terms with a specific offer for an outright purchase of the collection. Read about buying and selling through OBA before making an enquiry. This article does not imply that OBA offers post-auction sales.
