Sherpa Watches
Sherpa Watches is a modern watch brand based in Meerbusch, Germany, founded by Martin Klocke. Its OPS and Ultradive models reflect his interest in older Enicar watches carrying the Sherpa name. This background is described both by the manufacturer and in an interview with Klocke in the specialist publication Europa Star.
When identifying a watch, distinguish today's Sherpa Watches from vintage Enicar watches named Sherpa. Similar names and designs do not establish the maker or age. Record the dial signature, watch reference and accompanying documents before deciding which example you have.
For the OPS reference 001/02/01, the manufacturer specifies a 40 mm steel case with a black DLC coating, an internal rotating bezel and two crowns. Its automatic Mantramatic MM01 movement is based on the Sellita SW200-1. The manufacturer's account explains that two wheels carry microscopic laser-engraved Buddhist mantras. This is a distinctive decorative feature of the movement, not a documented improvement in technical performance. Read about automatic winding and movement calibres.
Use specifications for the correct reference, rather than applying them to older Enicar watches or every other Sherpa variant. Browse OBA's wristwatches, or read about valuation of your watch after gathering its model details and documentation.
