André Normann
André Normann is a goldsmith and jewellery artist. Norwegian Crafts records his goldsmith training and own workshop from 2016. Since 2020 he has explored ultrasound to form cymatic patterns in gold and silver, combined with mechanical elements.
Understanding the characteristic
A cymatic pattern refers to structures generated through sound and vibration. In this context, pattern formation belongs to the artist's material practice. It is not a general name for every rippled or irregular metal surface.
Documenting an individual work
Check the work's title, date, materials, dimensions and provenance against a source for that particular object. Distinguish the artist from a dealer who has sold the piece. Compare detailed photographs of both sides and any moving components. A similar surface alone is insufficient to attribute an unsigned jewel to Normann.
