Maker

Eva Marit Edwardsen

Eva Marit Edwardsen is a Norwegian goldsmith and craft artist with a workshop in Kristiansand. She states that she holds a goldsmith’s journeyman qualification and established her own business in 1998.

Design and techniques

Her own presentation identifies visits to Japan, architecture and temple gardens as important inspirations. Named ranges include Torii, Kimono and Kokedera. She also describes working with keum-boo, joining gold and silver using heat and pressure. This does not mean that every piece employs that technique.

Identifying jewellery

For secondhand sales, connect the maker’s name, range and documented materials to the particular piece. Compare receipts and exhibition records with its design and dimensions. Inspect settings, surfaces and later repairs. Japanese inspiration alone does not justify attribution, and this article does not assign an unidentified maker’s mark to Edwardsen.
