Torill Isachsen (iStudioJewels)
Torill Isachsen is a master goldsmith associated with Oslo's iStudioJewels, also described as Isachsen Studio. Her own CV lists qualification as a goldsmith in 1988, master qualification in 1994 and an independent business from 1998. These dates describe different milestones and should not be used interchangeably as founding dates.
Gemstones and individual work
The studio presents modern gemstone jewellery, its own gemstone cutting designs and bespoke work. Redesign using clients' gold and stones is also offered. A remodelled jewel may therefore contain material with a history older than its present form.
Documenting a jewel
Record who designed, made or remodelled the object where known. Preserve drawings, receipts and gemstone information. A distinctive cut is useful for comparison but does not alone prove attribution. Read and photograph the actual marks. A personal name, studio name and responsibility mark should not automatically be treated as the same information.
