Birgitte Bø Zijlstra (Birgitte BZ)

Birgitte Bø Zijlstra is a goldsmith and craft artist who presents her work as Birgitte BZ. She works with jewellery and wood at Johansgarden in Måndalen, Norway. Tullistaua names the building containing her workshop and sales outlet, rather than a separate designer to whom every object bearing the name should be attributed.

Her own biography states that she trained at MTS Vakschool Schoonhoven in the Netherlands. Johansgarden describes both jewellery and woodwork using chip carving. Wooden products include serving boards and outdoor cutlery. Material alone therefore does not restrict her output to silver or gold.

When assessing an object, distinguish the artist's name, the sales outlet and documented authorship. Practical example: keep a receipt linking a particular jewel to Birgitte BZ alongside photographs of the whole piece and any marks. A broadly similar carved motif is insufficient attribution evidence. See provenance and ownership history.

The artist's presentation describes jewellery for sale but excludes special commissions and repairs. Goldsmith training therefore does not establish that every such service is offered. For older jewellery, condition and documentation remain relevant regardless of maker.
