NEOTYPE Watches

NEOTYPE is a watch brand that states its watches are designed in France. It distinguishes design, component production and assembly: components are made by Asian partners, while mechanical watches are cased and regulated by a partner workshop in the French Jura. For quartz models it describes a different assembly chain, with much of the work in Hong Kong and final work and checks in France.

A specific model example

The manufacturer describes the black PVD steel LM01 Type D with an automatic Miyota 9039 movement, a 40 mm case, sapphire crystal and a unidirectional rotating bezel. These specifications concern that version. They should not be applied to every NEOTYPE watch or treated as evidence of a used example's condition.

Among wristwatches, the distinction between the watch brand and movement manufacturer matters. A Miyota movement does not make the watch a Miyota-branded watch, and French design does not mean that every component was produced in France.

Checking a secondhand example

Record the model, reference, any serial number and available original documentation. Photograph case, dial, caseback and strap, and disclose known damage and servicing. A condition report helps distinguish observed condition from original specifications. A factory water-resistance rating is not a fresh test of a used watch.

To offer an example to OBA, send photographs and details through buying and selling. Any need for closer inspection must be established for the individual watch.
